Nishaant Singh, disciple of Pandit Chanchal Kumar Bhattacharya, is a celebrated Pakhawaj player of Lala Keval Kishan Gharana- Bengal Parampara and the instrument’s torch bearer for his generation. Nishaant Singh, son of 'ShreeMaadal Aacharya' PadmaShri Awardee Kaajee Singh, belongs to a famous traditional folk musical family in Kalimpong, Darjeeling, with a lineage of music that goes back four generations. Nishaant is the most versatile Pakhawaj player in India who is capable of performing solo and also perform equally with Dhrupad Vocal, Bhajani's, String Instruments like; Rudra Veena, Surbahar, Sitar, Sarode, Santoor; Wind Instrument like Flute and Kathak the Indian Classical dance form. Nishaant is also a graded Folk singer and Shreemaadal player from All India Radio. Nishaant is also a top graded Pakhawaj player of Cine Musicians Association (CMA), Film Industry, Mumbai. He is the only Pakhawaj player in the country to know the compositions written by Swami Vivekananda and has been promoting all over the world. Currently, Singh serves as a guest professor of Pakhawaj in the Department of Cultural Affairs, Ramakrishna Mission VidyaMandira College, in Kolkata, India. He is also the youngest and first Fulbright Associate in Pakhawaj who has conducted research under the guidance of Padmashri Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri from the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California. 

Performed as an Indian Govt. Cultural Delegate by the Indian High Commission

MEXICO at six locations - Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Lyon, Monclova, Durango, and Torreon: Invited to perform at the most famous Latin American Festival - International Cervantino Festival 2015 in collaboration with ICCR, Govt. of India. CANADA at three locations - Toronto, Winnipeg, and Sudbury:  in association with ICCR, Govt. of India with Shri Debanjan Bhattacharjee. Both Nishaant and Debanjan have a record of performing more than 200+ concerts all over India and abroad with a unique and successful concept of Dhrupad Sarode.

​Performed twice for concerts organized by Music Alliance Worldwide Foundation (MAWW Foundation) at Bangladesh with Ustad Aashish Khan, Ustad Shahadat Hossain, Ustad Yousuf Khan. The second performance was with Shri Arjun Verma from California

​Represented India and performed Taal Vaadya "Chatusram" in collaboration with International Musicians from Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Azerbaijan in the most prestigious International Drums and Cultural Festival, Lamphun, Thailand.

BOLS AND RHYTHMS FROM VIVEKANANDA

 

Bols and Rhythms from Vivekananda contain 34 obsolete compositions in 5 different Taals. It is the best selling Album released in 2014, produced by the Institute of culture, Ramakrishna Mission, Golpark, Kolkata. People around the Globe have appreciated the commendable job done by the Artiste. At this present age, Nishaant Singh has dedicated his entire life to learn and promote these rare and obsolete compositions written by Swami Vivekananda in his book named Sangeet Kalpataru. Swami ji used to learn in this same Lala Keval Kishan Gharana-Bengal Parampara. The artiste is trying his best to preserve and promote this rare art form who is sincerely learning under the guidance of the only inheritor of this legacy, Pandit Chanchal Kumar Bhattacharya.

When you go through the book Sangeet kalpataru, Swamiji has started the first part of the Bol Baani section with Choutaal Theka along with Fifty one Bol Parans. There are other Taalas like Surfaktaal which contains 13 Bol Parans, Dhamaar contains 8 Bol Parans, Aadachoutaal contains 15 Bol Parans, Aadaa Taal contains 16 Bol Parans, TriTaali contains 9 Bol Parans, EkTaal contains 30 Bol Parans, Tiwat Taal contains 8 Bol Parans, Jhanptaal contains 9 Bol Parans. The Bol Parans have been compiled from different Taals and recorded in an Audio Album format produced by the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, Kolkata in the year 2014. The book Sangeet Kalpataru was re-edited by Dr. Sarbananda Chaudhuri in the year 2000 and while re- editing the book he gradually caught interest in extracting the Bol Parans and reveal the secrets in an audio format, so in mass, people would get the wonderful opportunity to hear the unrevealed extinct Bol Parans of the Lala Keval Kishan Gharana which Swami ji had learned from his Guru Mridangacharya Murari Mohan Gupta.

All the 5 audio tracks given above are extremely rare. Tracks such as number 4 and 5 are obsolete nowadays. The compositions of all the tracks are on the verge of extinction and have been only preserved by Nishaant Singh. You can stream and listen but it cannot be downloaded. The tracks can be provided through email, for which you will have to contact us.
